Normal Bel Geddes - Horizons Miniatures

Normal Bel Geddes is my absolute favorite designer. Reknowned for his work in the 1939 World's Fair, specifically the Futurama exhibit, Bel Geddes popularized art-deco streamlining.

I am lucky enough to own a signed copy of his classic book Horizons (ahem, not so humble-brag for design nerds). I have always loved the details in his car and flying wing designs. I decided it would be the perfect case for a 3D modeling and printing project.

I used Fusion 360 and my trusty Ender V3 Pro printer to make these. Let me know if you want the files, and you can make some as well!

Design for Music & Books

Over the years I've had the luck to design some 7-inch single sleeves. My favorite design combined my love of paper models (another hobby), with music. The cover may be cut out to make a small record player, with small paper records.

I have also had the luck to do both book jackets for fun, and some spot illustrations. The image on the right is for Free Culture, a book by Lawerence Lessig. Lessig is the creator of Creative Commons, a "some rights reserved" IP law platform.

Crochet All Day

"Crochet All Day!" is what my wife yells at me when I crochet, which is pretty much constantly. I have to credit Tara with this addiction. As a fidgety person who likes to make stuff, she gave me a book on crochet anigarumi during the pandemic. I never looked back.

I love making my own patterns, primarily of sci-fi and other nerdy subjects.

I am also very product of my pattern for the original 1984 Macintosh computer, which doubles as a tissue box. My theory was that the stereotypical crochet project is a tissue box. The most rectangular nerdy thing I can think of is an original Mac. This was made for my good friend Jake, lover of Mac computers.
